Writer Guidelines
Everything you need to know to get your story published and keep readers coming back.
📖 Content Standards
We want Epyso to be a platform where anyone can read freely. That means holding stories to a standard that's inclusive, engaging, and responsible.
- Stories must be original work — your own writing, not copied or AI-generated.
- No explicit sexual content. Romance is welcome; explicit scenes are not.
- No hate speech, racism, tribalism, or content that demeans any ethnic group.
- Violence must serve the story — gratuitous gore is not acceptable.
- Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Pidgin and other Nigerian/African languages are celebrated and encouraged.
✍️ Episode Format
- Length: 500 to 5,000 words per episode. Sweet spot is 1,000–2,500.
- Title: Give each episode a meaningful title, not just "Episode 1".
- Cliffhangers: End each episode at a point that makes readers want more.
- Editing: Proofread before submitting. Spelling errors reduce reader trust.
- Frequency: Try to publish at least one episode per week to keep readers engaged.
🖼 Cover Image
- Portrait orientation: 400×600px minimum (2:3 ratio).
- Clear, high-contrast image that communicates genre and tone.
- Only use images you own or have rights to use.
- Avoid text-heavy covers — the title is displayed separately.
📈 How Reads Are Counted
We track two metrics:
- Views — counted every time someone opens your episode. This is the public number readers see.
- Reads — counted only when a reader scrolls at least 20% of your episode. This is your real engagement number, visible only to admins.
⚠️ Strikes & Removal
Stories that violate these guidelines will be removed without notice. Repeat violations will result in a permanent ban. If you believe a removal was in error, contact us.
