No Way Out
I kept staring at the address like it would change.
But it didn’t.
I knew that place.
Everyone did.
Even if you’ve never been there before…
You’ve heard stories.
Bad ones.
The kind of place where people go in…
And sometimes don’t come back the same.
“Omo… no.”
I shook my head immediately.
“This one no be for me.”
I stood up and started pacing my room.
“No. I’m not doing this.”
Simple.
I didn’t sign anything.
I didn’t agree to anything.
Yes, I spent the money…
But that doesn’t mean—
My phone vibrated.
I froze.
Slowly…
I turned to look at it.
The small black phone.
Not my personal one.
That one.
It was ringing again.
I didn’t move.
Let it ring.
Stop.
Then my main phone buzzed.
I rushed to pick it.
One message.
Unknown number.
“Pick the phone.”
My heart dropped.
I looked at the small phone again.
Still ringing.
“Omo…”
I picked it.
Slowly.
“Hello?”
Silence.
Then—
“You’re wasting time.”
My chest tightened.
“I’m not doing it.”
Straight.
No fear.
Or at least… I tried to sound like I wasn’t afraid.
Silence.
For a few seconds.
Then he spoke again.
“Look outside.”
My body went cold instantly.
I didn’t want to move.
I didn’t want to check.
But something in me…
Forced me.
I walked slowly to the window.
Pulled the curtain slightly.
And froze.
There was a car parked across the street.
Black.
Engine off.
Just there.
At first, nothing looked strange.
Until—
The door opened.
A man stepped out.
Wearing black.
Face covered with cap.
He didn’t look around.
Didn’t move.
He just stood there.
Then slowly…
He looked up.
Directly at my window.
My heart stopped.
Because even though I couldn’t see his full face…
I knew.
He was looking at me.
I dropped the curtain immediately.
My hands shaking.
“Omo… omo… omo…”
My breathing became fast.
Uneven.
“This is not normal.”
The voice came again from the phone.
Calm.
Controlled.
“You see… we don’t like repeating ourselves.”
I couldn’t talk.
My throat was dry.
“This is very simple.”
Pause.
“Take the package.”
Another pause.
“Go to the address.”
My chest was rising and falling fast now.
“Deliver it.”
Then—
“Or…”
Silence.
That silence was louder than anything he had said before.
Then he finished it.
“We start removing things from your life.”
My eyes widened.
“What do you mean?”
A soft chuckle.
“You’ve already added a lot since yesterday.”
My heart dropped instantly.
Because I understood.
My mum.
My sister.
My friends.
Everything I had just fixed…
Could disappear.
Just like that.
I sat down slowly.
Defeated.
Because the truth hit me hard:
I was not in control anymore.
Not even small.
This thing…
Whatever it was…
Was bigger than me.
And I was already inside it.
“Okay…” I said quietly.
My voice barely coming out.
“I’ll do it.”
Silence.
Then—
“Good.”
The line cut.
For a few seconds, I just sat there.
Staring at nothing.
My mind empty.
Then slowly…
I stood up.
Walked to the box.
Picked up the USB.
Slipped it into my pocket.
My hands were still shaking.
I looked around my room.
Everything suddenly felt different.
Like I was leaving something behind.
Or stepping into something I couldn’t return from.
As I reached for the door…
My phone buzzed again.
I paused.
Checked it.
Another message.
Unknown number.
“Don’t be a hero.”
My chest tightened.
Another message entered.
“Just be smart.”
I stared at the screen for a few seconds.
Then slowly…
I put my phone in my pocket.
Opened the door.
And stepped outside.
Because at that point…
It was clear.
Very clear.
There was no running.
No escaping.
No turning back.
To be continued…
